Rhode Island School of Design students took over the first floor Washington Place Building Monday night.
Students are asking university officials to divest from pro-Israel groups.

Large crowds were also spotted gathering outside of the building.
A banner above the building’s main entrance read “Disclose, Divest, Defend Gaza.”
The protest comes after several weeks of similar demonstrations across the country.
On Monday, Columbia University announced it was canceling its commencement ceremonies as pro-Palestinian protests continue.

Brown University agreed on Tuesday to vote on a student-backed proposal to divest from companies perceived as helping Israel in its war against Hamas.
Brown also agreed to view ending the encampment "favorably" during proceedings for student code of conduct violations.
